Overheard at the DNC

“John McCain calls himself a maverick, but he votes with George Bush 90 percent of the time. That’s not a maverick. That’s a sidekick!”

- Senator Bob Casey, D-PA

Another good one:

"A woman voting for John McCain would be like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders"
- Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood

Loved it. hehehe
Did you see Beau Biden introduce Joe Biden? Really touching. I'm a big sap, so it had me very emotional. When he said he, his brother & dad married Jill, that was it for me.
I was very impressed that Joe Biden's son is Attorney General for DE. Then to find out the reason he asked people to help & watch out for his dad because he wouldn't there is because he's in the National Guard & is being deployed to Iraq? Tear factory again.

"No Way, No How, No McCain"! Hillary
Don't like the woman, but loved the line.

Is there no one else watching the DNC???
Here's another:
US Congressman Patrick Murphy(my Congressman), recounting his tour in Iraq in 2003 w/ the 82nd Airborne:
"One of my gunners said to me, 'What the hell are we doing here?'"

(A little history, he went there firmly supporting the effort, & then saw what a fucked up mess it was, & realized we should be in Afghanistan, not Iraq. He came home & ran for Congress to try to help change things. He then beat a firmly entrenched Republican in a forever Republican district by a less than 1% margin.)
No one but CSPAN thought he was important enough to air his speech, so if you'd like, you can see it here:

Sorry to go on, but I just love the guy, & the speech highlights his commitment to taking care of vets & their families when they come home.

[hijack] So what do you think about McCain's pick? I've never heard of her, but picking a woman in general was a pretty smart move, don'cha think? There's lots of us out there... [/hijack]

It is an extremely shrewd and smart move. Absolutely.

And I hate it.
