In The Black

If you're a Firefly or Serenity fan, you'll enjoy this video, set to Alaskan folk singer Marian Call's song In The Black.

And even if you're not a Firefly fan, Marian's voice is well, well worth listening to. She is amazing.

  1. I ADORE Marian Call. I was stoked when she started following me on Blip.fm (I blipped how much I loved one of her songs). Melodramatic me feels like "Good Old Girl" is my theme song - it's my default ring tone.

  3. Great song, yes, but damn you for reminding me how good that one season of Firefly was. Now I have to watch it again at some point.

I dunno why I'm saying that like it's a bad thing. Maybe it's finding time for it, or maybe it's because then I'll feel obligated to watch Serenity again, and that'll make me sad/angry in the same way I get over the Star Wars prequels.

    Stoopid Joss Whedon.

  4. So - did you find Marian from my comment on one of your previous posts, or independently?

    Glad you did, anyway :).

  5. Ewan, I'm not sure how I heard about Marian Call - she is pretty well known locally though and I know a bunch of people who are huge fans.

Recently I noticed her mentioned on twitter, and started stalking her (red heads, I got this thing about beautiful red heads).

  6. great song! I'm going to go look her up now. I"m always looking for new artists. I didn't discover Firefly until after it was cancelled and we watched Serenity.

    My only bitch....

Really?!?!?! They had to kill off Wash?!

  7. The actors asked for their characters to be killed off, or so I've read.

I cannot recommend Marian Call highly enough. She is an amazing talent, beautiful, funny, and a gifted singer and songwriter. She travels the country almost constantly playing small venues like coffee shops and backyards, she's amazingly approachable. She's the geek troubadour. Look up her videos on YouTube, especially the cat story. Follow her on twitter, facebook, and her own site. Simply google her name.
