The Rushes

As you may have inferred from certain hints I've dropped around here, I have a thing for British music. Especially small pub bands. I don't know why, I just do. And I really like this song.

One of the really cool things about the internet is the ability to access information on a truly global scale. Now if I could just buy the album, alas it is only available on iTunes Europe and on disk in London. Dammit.

But The Rushes are starting to get some serious play, hopefully their stuff will become available here in the States sooner rather than later.

  1. Their vinyl EP is supposed to be available from CD Universe 1 April.

  2. I think I love you, Vince, in a strictly hetro, manly, you did the legwork so I don't have to sort of way. And I'm not just saying that because you pimped Stonekettle Station over the wild Minnesotan airwaves.

    I just pre-ordered it. Thanks.

  3. Thanks for turning me on to them - I'm always looking for new loves...

  4. That's what I'm here for, Cam, that's what I'm here for.

  5. It always amazes me how so many British bands don't sound...British. I always thought Mick Jagger did a great southern accent when he wanted to. These guys remind me ofThe BoDeans ...who hail from Wisconsin.

  6. 1) I wish the guy on keyboards was wearing a shirt.

    2) Do you get Mountainstage up your way? If not, you can download past shows on their website.

I get the feeling you might find some artists you like there.

Mountainstage is where I first hear Old Crow Medicine Show.

  7. Aside from the atrocious exchange rate, why would "only in London" stop you in this global day and age? (And, IIRC, some labels do their e-commerce in the Currency Of Your Choice. I think, for instance, Fat Cat is based in England and I bought a Mum album from them with dollars--it's been a while though, so I may be misremembering.)

That's kind of the beauty of the new-intertube-linked-world-order; "here in the States" doesn't mean what it used to.

  8. Eric, Well, true.

But the last time I tried to buy something from overseas (Culinaria Britain and Erie) it was a abysmal (and expensive) failure. Once burned and all that.

Plus, Vince has made the overseas purchase unnecessary.

However, I did recently make an extremely foreign purchase - I bought a part for my lathe from some guy in Canada. Yeah, so there.
