Gone to Anchorage

I'm off to the VA this morning - because I feel the urge to fill out more forms. I may have killed an entire forest by now. But, I think I'm wearing them down, eventually I'll smother the bureaucrats under several tons of paper. Then I'll climb over the pile and get to the doctors. Whoohoo! Shoulder surgery, here I come.

Actually I'm kidding, so far the VA has been a pretty decent organization - as giant government bureaucracies go. Considering how strapped they are, what with Bush's Folly and all, I'm surprised they can even get to a retiree like me. More later.

  2. Well, if there's anything that can make your day even more exciting than a trip to the VA, it's getting diss'd in public by your sister-in-law. You are a very funny lady, Melissa, very funny indeed. But, then again, I guess you'd have to have a good sense of humor to be married to Mike. (See? now I'm funny).

Glad you liked the blog. I shall endeavor to keep you entertained. Thanks for commenting.

  3. Oh, sibling-in-law interaction. And me without my popcorn. :)

I don't know how well the VAs are interconnected, but I know people at the Cleveland one (former co-workers, I don't qualify for VA). Granted their in IT., but ya never know.

Although, with the VA, that might end up being more paperwork to circumvent the traditional paperwork.

  4. Steve, I don't think the VA is interconnected even between departments! I must have filled out the same dammed 'request for information' form in 5 different places today. I finally asked, um why? And got that DMV-I'm-this-side-of-the-desk-and-you're-whale -shit-pal look. Nevermind. Just have to get through it so's I can get my disability rating.

  5. Jim, what's your thoughts about staffing the VA 'Starship Troopers'-style, vets only? (As you're an RAH fan and all...)

    1. ACLU would be all over that, unfortunately...I think it'd be a great idea (but I'm another weenie who drank the 'never volunteer' KoolAid and didn't serve, so what do I know)
